November 2016

  1. Silent Prayer
  2. Pledge of Allegiance
  3. Richard’s “Thanks for Thanksgiving” Message
  4. Announcements
  • Last Business Meeting of the year
  • Holiday Party Saturday Dec 17, 2016 at 9am (members urged to bring non-perishable food items and home supplies for St. Paul Program for the Needy)
  • Tree lightings for Asbury Park, Jersey Shore Art Center and Camp Meeting announced
  • Reminder of snow removal ordinance
  • Reading of year-end President Barbara Burns report summarizing year’s activity and accomplishments (now posted on website as President’s Letter)
  1. Committee Reports:
  • Treasurer’s Report
  • Derelict Housing Report
  • Kathy Alt indicated that preservation of Ocean Grove through partnership is the goal of the Certified Local Government (CLG) Program. Participation in the Certified Local Government Program (CLG) is one way to get professional guidance and support to shape the future of our community.  However, it is unclear what the position of the township officials are regarding this issue.  There is a view that participation make the township budget more expensive and it appears as if the goal of the township is to limit the power of the HPC to reduce cost to home owners.
  1. Old Business (issues continuing into 2017 that will be watched)
  • North End development
  • Parking
  • RSIS Exemption
  • Broadway flooding
  • Ground rent review (condo’s and other special cases)
  1. New Business and Issues for 2017 Discussions
  • Board of Education voting date
  • The School System is 47% of Neptune Township Tax Base yet there is very little input by citizens.  The HOA will investigate aligning the voting date of BOE members to the general election in November as well as provide the opportunity of BOE candidates to present issues at a HOA meeting candidate forum.
  • Street paving (many roads in Ocean Grove after street digging are half re-paved and unattractive)
  • Low water pressure (risk to fire fighting)
  • Need for a HOA Membership Committee
  • Issues Requested from the Membership (what can the HOA do to improve?)
    • Clean up North end requested if no development
    • Property tax increases
    • Keep watchful eye on Neptune Township Meeting and issues
    • Westley Lake pollution

The Meeting was adjourned at 11:14am

Respectfully submitted,

George Germann for Theresa R. Checki, Secretary
