A regular meeting of the Ocean Grove Homeowners Association was held on Saturday, June 24, 2017.  Barbara Burns, President, called the meeting to order at 10:05 am.   A  prayer was followed by the flag salute.

Barbara acknowledged the passing of Herb Herst, a long-time contributor to the civic life of Ocean Grove. Herb was the driving force in the creation of the Jersey Shore Arts Center.  To honor Herb’s memory, OGHOA will make a donation in his name to the Jersey Shore Arts Center in his name.

Acknowledgements:  Barbara acknowledged Rob Lane, member of the Neptune Township Committee and Michael Pullano, independent candidate for the Neptune Township Committee.

Announcements:  Barbara noted the following:  Bersheba Awards ceremony, August 10 at 7 pm; OGHOA Summer Breakfast, August 26.  Historical Society events: June 29, Women’s Walking Tour; Tent Tour, July 11; Tents to Turrets Lecture, July 25, and House Tour, August 4

Request for volunteers for the Ocean Grove Beautification Committee.

Nomination for Trustee of the OGHOAMark Kourey was nominated for a five-year term.

Committee Reports:

Treasurer’s Report: George Germann presented the financial statement  for the OGHOA for the year to date.

Parking Committee: Joyce Klein provided  an update on parking.  Angle parking has been put in place on Central and Main Avenues, resulting in a net gain of 18 parking spots.  The OGHOA parking committee will resume its efforts to bring about substantive changes to improve the parking situation in Ocean Grove. As a corollary, Richard Williams reviewed the efforts of the Asbury Park Transportation Committee.

HPC Design Guidelines: Barbara Burns provided an update. Neptune Township is attempting to engage an attorney and architect to deal with guideline revisions and to review building applications that are currently handled by the HPC.

Guest SpeakersDeb Osepchuk, Chairperson and Jenny Shaffer, member of the Ocean Grove Historical Preservation Commission.  Jenny and Deb provided  an in-depth review of historical preservation in Ocean Grove, as well as an explanation of the process for renovation while conforming to historical guidelines.  Many questions from the public followed.

The meeting adjourned at 12:10 pm.
