A regular meeting of the OGHOA was held on Saturday, Saturday May 27th, 2023 at 10 am, in the Camp Meeting Community Room, 28 Pilgrim Pathway.
OPENING
The meeting was called to order by Richard Williams, President, at 10:05 am. The Pledge of Allegiance was followed by recognition of special guests Rob Lane and Tassie York, Members of the Neptune Township Committee, and Peter Herr of the CMA.
In Memoriam: Richard Acknowledged the passing of Mark Kourey on May 10, 2023. Mark had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the OGHOA for the past 10 years. Richard highlighted Mark’s contributions to the OGHOA and to Ocean Grove, and his commitment to cancer research by fundraising for Memorial Sloane Kettering though repeated running the NYC marathon.
Police Liaison Tressa Yurman addressed the group, speaking about recent car thefts in the community. Questions followed.
GUEST SPEAKER
We were pleased to have Diana Harris, President of the Midtown Urban Renaissance Corporation (MURC) speak at our meeting. In addition to her work with MURC, she elaborated on the many other hats she wears all in support of the citizens of Neptune Township. In her presentation she offered both a comprehensive history of MURC and its current endeavors. She also discussed the longtime connections between Neptune’s Midtown and Ocean Grove. Many member questions followed.

Committee Reports:

- Barbara Burns and Joan Venezia presented 2-part North End update. Joan provided a comprehensive review of the history of the proposed development going back to 2007 and highlighted the involvement of the OGHOA in the various stages of the process. Barbara then discussed the numerous legal issues plaguing both the developer and Ocean Grove. Questions followed.
The President’s Report:

- Richard Williams, reviewed the numerous interactions/meetings he has held with Michael Badger, President of the CMA. Richard reported that while some of these exchanges were not harmonious, he expressed the importance of persevering in order to foster a productive working relationship between the Home Owners and the Camp Meeting Association. Richard conceded that both sides have to make changes before progress can occur, and he has requested that a series of meetings between more CMA and OGHOA representatives be initiated in order to resolve the more pressing issues. Questions followed.
