The mission of the Ocean Grove Home Owners Association is to enhance the quality of life in Ocean Grove. Members are active in other local organizations, such at the Ocean Grove Beautification Project, the Chamber of Commerce, Ocean Grove United and the Historical Society of Ocean Grove, and can often be found in attendance at meetings of the Neptune Township Committee, and the Neptune Township Historical Preservation Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment. OGHOA played a leading role in persuading state and local authorities to investigate and improve conditions in local boarding houses that had become home to large numbers of patients de-institutionalized by state mental health facilities. A direct result of this effort was the formation of the Neptune Township Rooming and Boarding House Commission. The Commission was charged with ensuring that rooming houses in Ocean Grove were safe and secure, and that owners complied with applicable regulations with respect to the treatment of residents. With only two rooming houses remaining in Ocean Grove, the Commission was dissolved in 2013.
OGHOA continues its tradition of community involvement by closely monitoring development in Ocean Grove to ensure that it is consistent with the priorities of Ocean Grove homeowners and is in keeping with the historic character of Ocean Grove.
